Button and connector placement is ergonomic, with the Micro-USB slot on the bottom, headset jack on top, volume rocker on the left and power on the right. The Micro-SIM sits in a pop-out caddy on the right edge of the chassis. The 2,300mAh is non-removable, with the Micro-SIM card slot on the right edge next to the power button. The Nexus 5 weighs 130g and measures 8.59mm thick. Sound quality is not too shabby, but maximum volume is on the low side (better that than distortion). Two grilles at the bottom suggest stereo speakers, but in fact there's just a single speaker that seems only to pump audio through one of the grilles. The top and bottom edges are slightly curved which adds a little character to the Nexus 5's appearance. It catches the light, providing relief from an otherwise very sombre chassis. On the back, which is made from a rubberised, grip-friendly material, the Nexus brand is embedded as it is on the most recent Nexus 7 tablet. There's no branding on the front, so when the handset is in use nothing distracts from the screen. Our review sample was black, although there's also a white version that might be a bit more attractive. The Nexus 5 is not a particularly attractive handset. It's powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC running at 2.2GHz.
Thought I'd ask you folks if you know anything about it, and try to find out whether you know of any genuine solutions.The 4.95-inch Nexus 5 comes in white or black liveries, with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Google support folks acknowledge the problem, but they admit that they arestumped, too. I've tried almost all of the proffered suggestions (except for switching away from Ting) and nothing makes any difference.
Some folks blame Sprint some expect Google may fix it eventually some say it has to do with signal strength, or location, or carrier. There are suggestions and solutions all over the map - everything from adjusting the screen brightness to rebooting in safe mode, wiping the cache, doing a factory reset, trying a third-party dialler app, toggling airplane mode on and off a few times, setting various Mobile Networks options, or updating the OS. Quite a number of N5 owners are having the same problem some have returned their phones for a replacement, but in most cases the replacement handset screws up the answering function just the same, sometimes right away, sometimes after a few days. I've read quite a lot of postings about this issue on androidcentral's forum and on the bulletinboard. The latter two don't make a bit of sense to me, and no matter what I do, or which menu choice I select, it does not take me to a screen or icon or button to anwer the doggone call, which is quickly shunted over to the voicemailbox. Hi, guys - I got the Google Nexus 5 last fall directly from the Google Play Store and got the required SIM card as per your instructions, and followed your initialization procedure, and everything worked beautifully for several months - but lately I cannot answer a phone call! The phone rings, but instead of popping up a picture of the caller and a dialpad with a icon/button that would let me answer the call, it displays a recent contacts list overlaid by a short menu of three choices, none of which is "Answer the Call." Specifically, the three available options that pop up after a ring are (1) Use Touchtone Keypad (2) Return to Call in Process (3) Add Call.
